Ablakwa calls for investigation into leaked 2021 WASSCE questions

Former Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called on the Government of Ghana (GoG) to commission an independent investigation into reports of leaked 2021 WASSCE Integrated Science question papers to be administered on Monday, August 3, 2021.

The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu petition follows claims by a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dzifa Gunu that the Akufo-Addo government has allegedly leaked the Monday subject paper (WASSCE Integrated Science questions) to some Headmasters in various Senior High Schools (SHSs).

According to the NDC activists, the leaked questions to headmasters in various Senior High Schools (SHSs) is a way the Akufo-Addo led government wants to prove that their implementation of the Free SHS policy was fruitful.

However, the North Tongu MP has urged the government and other relevant stakeholders associated with the conduct of the national examination to investigate into the alleged leakage and take more proactive steps to safeguard the image of Ghana’s education and sanctity of certificates issued.

The former Minister for Education, in a post on his Facebook timeline sighted by Ghanascholarship.net , said the viral reports of the leaked Integrated Science paper is casting dark clouds over the credibility of the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He also condemned the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for creating an impression in an earlier released statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit that “annual reports of examination leakage is a normal development”.

According to Mr Ablakwa, the Ghana Education Service (GES) statement does not address the fundamental issue, neither does it engender the much-needed confidence or reassurance.

He noted that there can be nothing normal or acceptable about examination papers leaking, consequently calling on the Akufo-Addo government to with as a matter of urgency investigate into the claims.

Meanwhile, the non-profit-making organization responsible for the conduct of the examination said it had reported the issue to the BNI and other National security agencies for a follow up of the leakage source.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) however attributed the leakage to some individuals who it said are rogue website operators responsible for the annual leakage of fake papers to mislead candidates.

In a related story, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged the prospective WASSCE candidates to disregard allegations that the yet to be written question papers have leaked.
