Ghanaian Scholarships Secretariat opens Online Application

The Ghana Scholarship secretariat has announced that it is going to pay the full fees of free shs students who will be entering the various tertiary institutions for the 2021/2022 academic year.

Who is eligible to apply?

All applicants who wrote the WASSCE in 2021 and have gained admission or have applied for admission into an accredited local tertiary institution are eligible to apply.

The Secretariat held a Press conference on Tuesday, December 1, 2021, and revealed that His Excellency the President was behind the outdooring of the scholarship packages.

Kingsley Agyemang, Registrar of Scholarships said the portal was opened to enable all Free SHS graduates apply for scholarships so they could continue with their tertiary education.

He said;

With the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat charged by the vision of the President, it is our objective to give opportunities to each and every Ghanaian student deserving of award for tertiary education,”

According to him, a strategic decision was taken in 2019 to digitize the scholarship application process for the 2021/2022 academic year for both the local and foreign scholarship schemes.

Mr. Agyemang continued by noting that, the main reason for going digital was to increase accessibility and ensure transparency and fairness while being able to pay tuition fees and stipend promptly to all who are on the Scholarship program.

“To this effect, scholarship processes for the 2021/2022 academic year commenced in March 2021 through our online portal www.scholarshipgh.com and saw over 300,000 Ghanaians applying from all over the country without physically engaging the Secretariat or having to travel from the hinterlands to access our service.”

He announced that the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat has commenced payment for the first batch of online scholarship applicants who participated in the nationwide scholarship selection interviews in their respective district assemblies.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to accessible education by all and sundry.
