QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A. SENIOR LECTURERS/SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS

A person seeking appointment as Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow in Ho Technical
University must:

i. Have been appointed as Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow in the relevant
discipline in a public tertiary institution or a duly accredited private tertiary institution in Ghana or elsewhere.
ii. Possess a PhD in the relevant field of specialization.
iii. Have taught for a minimum of six (6) years as a Lecturer;
iv. Candidate must have at least six (6) publications in refereed journals
v. Provide other evidence of research/professional activity/ products/invention/innovation.
vi. Have some appreciable industry experience or skills in Competency Based Training (CBT).
vii. Membership of a recognized professional body.

B. LECTURERS/RESEARCH FELLOWS

A person seeking appointment as a Lecturer/Research Fellow in Ho Technical University
must:

i. Possess a PhD in the relevant field of specialization.

C. ASSISTANT LECTURERS/ASSISTANT RESEARCH FELLOWS

A person seeking appointment as an Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Research Fellow in Ho
Technical University must:

i. Possess a Research Master’s degree in the relevant field of specialization, and
ii. Have some appreciable industrial experience or skills in Competency Based Training (CBT).

The Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Research Fellow position is a temporary one for a period
of two (2) years renewable for a further period of two (2) years only; and may terminate
unless the applicant obtains a terminal degree.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Successful candidates will be expected to teach, research and offer any other academic
and administrative services to the University and its publics.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE/PROFESSIONAL STAFF POSITIONS

A. OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

Junior Assistant Registrar
Successful applicants shall be assigned the following administrative responsibilities in the
Office of the Registrar:

• Human Resource
• Public Affairs
• Academic Affairs
• Industrial Liaison

Interested applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Administration and Management
Sciences. Preferred areas include Human Resource Management, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Educational Administration and Management, Educational Planning, English, Law, Management Information Systems or other relevant equivalent qualifications.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold at least a Masters’ degree preferably in the above-mentioned areas.

B. QUALITY ASSURANCE AND ACADEMIC PLANNING UNIT

Junior Assistant Quality Assurance Officer
The Junior Assistant Quality Assurance Officer shall assist the Assistant Quality Assurance
Officer in the discharge of the functions of the Office.

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree, preferably in Statistics, Quality
Assurance or other related area a relevant field. Applicant must be computer literate and
must be abreast with relevant software applications. A relevant Professional Qualification
would be an added advantage.

Junior Assistant Planning Officer

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree in Management Information Systems,
Planning, Educational Planning, or other relevant areas. Applicant must be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software applications. A relevant
Professional Qualification would be an added advantage.

C. PROCUREMENT OFFICER

Assistant Procurement Officer

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must hold a minimum of a Masters’ Degree in Procurement Management plus a Professional Qualification in Procurement. Applicant must have at least two (2) years post-qualification experience as Junior Assistant Procurement Officer or comparable grade in a similar institution in the area of procurement. Applicant must be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software applications.

D. INDUSTRIAL LIAISON OFFICE

Industrial Liaison Officer

The Industrial Liaison Officer is the Head of the Liaison Office. Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must hold a minimum of a Masters’ degree in the relevant field and must have at least six (6) years post-qualification experience in senior management position in liaison activities in a tertiary institution, industry or any relevant public service organization. Applicant must be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software applications. In addition, applicants must submit a short vision statement not exceeding three (3) pages outlining how he/she will address relevant issues of the Industrial Liaison Office.

E. GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING OFFICE

Guidance & Counseling Officer
The Guidance & Counselling Officer is the Head of the Guidance & Counselling Office. Applicants shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgement, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must hold a minimum of Masters’ Degree in relevant field, preferably in Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, or any other relevant qualification and must have at least eight (8) years post qualification experience. In addition, applicants must submit a short vision statement not exceeding three (3) pages outlining how he/she will address relevant issues of the Guidance & Counselling Office.

F. UNIVERSITY SPORTS OFFICE

Assistant Sports Officer/Coach
The Assistant Sports Officer/Coach shall assist the Sports Officer in the performance of his/her duties.

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must hold a minimum of Master’s Degree in Physical Education or any other relevant qualification and must have at least six (6) years post qualification experience, or
A Bachelors’ degree plus a Professional Coaching certificate in specific sports discipline, PLUS ten (10) years coaching experience.

G. INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) OFFICE

Successful applicants shall be assigned responsibilities in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Office as Systems Analyst, Systems Administrator, and I.T. Service Manager.

Junior Assistant Information & Communication Technology Officer

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must hold a minimum of Masters’ Degree in the relevant field, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant qualifications PLUS other relevant professional qualifications.

H. DIRECTORATE OF FINANCE

Senior Accountant
Applicants shall be required to show qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must be a Chartered Accountant and hold a Masters’ degree in the relevant field. He/She must have served as an Accountant in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6) years. Applicants must be computer literate and be conversant with accounting/auditing software applications.

In addition, applicant must be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary; possess hands-on ability to work independently; possess strong IT skills and familiarity with accounting software;

Business Development Officer

Applicants shall be required to show qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or any other related relevant qualification. He/She must have served in a business-related position or comparable grade in an institution or organization for at five (5) years. Applicants must be computer literate and possess entrepreneurial and business innovation skills.

In addition, applicant must:
• Be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary;
• Possess hands-on ability to work independently;
• Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills;
• Be a good team player;
• Possess strong IT skills and familiarity with accounting software;
• Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
• Possess proactive commercial flair; and
• Submit a short vision statement not exceeding three (3) pages outlining how he/
she will address relevant issues of revenue mobilization of the University.

I. DIRECTORATE OF INTERNAL AUDIT

Senior Assistant Internal Auditor

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must be a Chartered Accountant and hold a minimum of a Masters’ degree
in the relevant field. He/She must have served as an Assistant Internal Auditor in a
University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6)
years. Applicants must be computer literate and be conversant with accounting/auditing
software applications.

J. DIRECTORATE OF WORKS AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Applicants shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative,
resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization. Successful
applicants shall be assigned responsibility as Horticulturist in the Grounds and Gardens
Unit, and Facilities Manager in the Estates Unit of the Directorate.

Junior Assistant Development Officer (Horticulturist)

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree in Horticulture or other relevant
qualification PLUS a relevant Professional Qualification. Applicant must also be member
of a relevant professional body in Ghana

Junior Assistant Development Officer (Facilities Manager)

Qualification and Experience
Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree in Estate Management, Facilities Management or other related qualification PLUS a relevant Professional Qualification. Applicant must also be member of a relevant professional body in Ghana

K. LIBRARY

Senior Assistant Librarian

Staff in this grade shall be required to show high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in their area of specialization.

Qualification and Experience

Applicants must among others:
• possess a minimum of Masters’ degree in Library or Information Science or any other relevant qualifications.
• must have served as an Assistant Librarian in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6) years.
• hold membership of a professional body in Librarianship/Information Science.
• have a minimum of four (4) cumulative publications published in recognized peer reviewed journal after promotion as Assistant Librarian/analogous grade.
• be computer literate and be conversant with library software
