KNUST’s Female Vice-Chancellor Promises ‘1 Student One Laptop’


The first female Vice-Chancellor of the Kumasi-based Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Professor Rita Akosua Dickson has promised to provide each student with a laptop.

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor made this promise during her investiture yesterday August 1, 2021 when she officially assumed office and took over from the former Vice-Chancellor Professor Obiri Danso.

Prof. Akosua Dickson investiture was attended by the the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is also Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.

His Excellency Akufo-Addo following Prof. Rita Dickson’s appointment as the first-ever female Vice-Chancellor of the University commended her adding that he is confident that she will rise up to the challenge, and excel in her new role.

The Management of KNUST on June 25, 2021, announced the appointment of Professor Rita Akosua Dickson to serve as Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term starting today Saturday, August 1, 2021, until July 31, 2024.

The female Vice-Chancellor until her appointment was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology.

Prof. Rita Dickson again served as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She who holds a PhD and a Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (GCAP from King’s College London
