In Ghana, many people believe that footballers are school dropouts but that is not the case.

There are Ghanaian footballers who have defused the said thought as they have acquired University degrees.

These players combined education with their playing careers.

1. Lalas Abubakar

The young defender currently plies his trade in the Major Soccer League (MLS).

Abubakar schooled at the University of Ghana but had to switch to Dayton University in America to complete his education.

2. Joseph Tetteh Zutah

Zutah is the captain for Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC. He studied Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Cape Coast.

3. Abel Manomey

Abel is currently a free agent after his contract with Great Olympics expired.

The bulky forward studied Bachelor of Science in Health Physical Education Recreation and Sports.

4. Abdul Aziz Suleiman

Abdul Aziz is a goalkeeper for second-tier side Bolga All Stars. He holds Bachelor of Arts in French Education from the University of Education, Winnneba.

5. Opoku Antwi (University of Education)

Opoku Antwi who is the brother of former Black Stars winger Opoku Agyemang is a product of Prempeh College and the University of Education.

Whilst still in the University, he was commuting between Winneba and Accra as he was with Great Olympics.

As at last year, he was playing for Klagenfurt in Austria.

6. William Opoku Mensah (University of Cape Coast)

The former Karela FC skipper holds a degree in Physical Education from the University of Cape Coast. Mensah was the main stay in the Karela FC team netting a hat-trick against Hearts of Oak in 2018.

He is now playing for Swope Park Rangers in USA

7. Reuben Ayarna (University of Aalborg)

Ayarna had his secondary education at Presbyterian Boys Secondary School(Presec Legon) before getting a scholarship to Boston College in USA to further up.

He played for the school team whilst studying and after completing, he moved to Sweden where he featured for GAIS and BK Hacken.

Whilst in Sweden, he did his Masters in Business Administration at nearby University of Aalborg in Denmark.

Ayarna is now playing for KUPS in Finland.
