NDC Manifesto: NDC to continue Free SHS; abolish double-track system

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it shall continue the New Patriotic Party’s Free Senior High School Policy.

Giving highlights of the 2020 NDC manifesto on Monday, September 7, 2020, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang stated that a future NDC administration will make the free SHS better and more inclusive.

The NDC said it shall abolish the double-track system of education by completing and expanding the existing infrastructure in the Senior High Schools.

According to the NDC, it shall expand the Free SHS programme to cover students in private Senior High Schools in underserved/deprived areas.

“The next NDC Government will: make the Free Senior High School Programme better by ensuring that its numerous challenges are addressed, and higher standards introduced b. expand the Free SHS programme to cover students in private Senior High Schools in underserved/deprived areas c. abolish the double-track system,” she said.

Free Sanitary Pads

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that when voted into power in December 2020, it shall provide Free sanitary pads to schoolgirls below the age of 20.

The NDC made this revelation during its manifesto launch dubbed  ‘The People Manifesto’ at the University of Professional Studies in Accra on Monday, September 7, 2020. Speaking at the event, the Vice Presidential candidate of the party, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang said it was very unfortunate to see young girls finding it difficult to afford sanitary pads while in school.
