The Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) is set to meet with the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) to engage them on issues of the feeding grant component of the Teacher Trainee allowance.
Over the past one week, trainee teachers have launched a campaign on social media and other platforms calling on PRINCOF and the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) to disburse the feeding grant component of the teacher trainee allowance to them.
PRINCOF And TTAG To Meet Over Feeding Grant Brouhaha

The campaign which has seen numerous trainee teachers taking to social media platforms to channel their concerns seems to have gotten the attention of the stakeholders.
In an exclusive interaction with the News Desk of CoEWJ, Dr. Emmanuel Nyamekye, the National President of PRINCOF stated that “TTAG has requested to meet us so we are looking forward to engaging the leadership of TTAG on the issues being raised about the feeding grant component of their allowance during our upcoming conference at Koforidua between 16th to 19th August, 2021”.
When the News Desk contacted one of the affected students, Master Tahiru Mohammed Murtala, a Level 200 trainee teacher who doubles as the SRC President of Tamale College of Education, he stated that “information reaching us suggests that, Colleges affiliated to UCC will have a sit-down exams or in other words, return to campus to write their end of semester examination.
So if that is the case, the Colleges can deduct the feeding component for the weeks those affected students will be staying on campus and return the rest to the students. I urge the authorities to do the necessary calculations and subtract the amount of money that will be used to feed them (students) within the period they will be in school to sit for their end of semester exams and return the rest to them.
However, those who are not affiliated to UCC and have written online exams or are yet to, should be given the entire amount allocated as their feeding component”.
The News Desk will keep you updated on any latest development regarding this very pertinent issue as a result of the payment of the teacher trainee allowance.
