Undergraduate Scholarships for Ghanaian Students

There are a number of available undergraduate scholarships for Ghanaian students to study in Ghana. These scholarships are offered by organizations, institutions and the government for Ghanaian students.

On that note, we’ve put together a list of fully-funded undergraduate scholarships for Ghanaians students 2024/2022. Many students are in need of these scholarships opportunities, so you could be of help by sharing this page with your friend.

Importantly, some of these scholarships are ongoing while others have closed and are yet to open for the new academic session which is starting soon. So I recommend you bookmark this page so that you can come back for scholarships that are yet to open.

MasterCard Foundation Scholarship Program at Ashesi University College

Half of the scholarships are funded by the MasterCard Foundation and will be awarded to Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians.

This scholarship covers not only the full tuition, but also includes housing in Ashesi’s residence halls, meals on campus, a free laptop, spending money and annual trips home for international students after the second year.

KNUST/MasterCard Foundation Scholarships

The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), provides academically talented yet economically disadvantaged young people in Ghana and Africa with access to quality and relevant university education.

GNPC Undergraduate Scholarships

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is offered to undergraduates through the GNPC Foundation to prospective Ghanaian students. The scholarship is for degree courses and is tenable at accredited public tertiary Institutions in Ghana. The scholarship covers Tuition, Living Expenses, Book Allowance, and Dissertation/Project Allowance.

Tertiary Education Scholarship Trust (TEST) for Ghana Scholarships

The Tertiary Education Scholarship Trust –TEST – provides four year Full or Partial Scholarships to Needy but Best Students to undertake new and/ or continuing Tertiary Education studies at Ghanaian Public Universities and Polytechnics in their own country.

MTN Ghana Bright Scholarships for Undergraduate Ghanaian Students

The MTN Ghana Bright Scholarship is sponsored by the MTN Group Foundation. It is launched to support 100 brilliant and needy Ghanaians to complete their tertiary education.

300 scholarship awards would be given over a period of three years and beneficiaries will be selected from all 16 regions of Ghana. This scholarship will cover the cost of Tuition, Accommodation and a Stipend for books and other relevant reading materials.

KNUST-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship

The KNUST-Tullow Tertiary Scholarships is open to Engineering students who are doing their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The KNUST-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship is fully-funded for Ghanaian students for a maximum period of four (4) academic year.

Empowering Africa Inc. Full Tuition Scholarship

Empowering Africa Inc. is accepting applications for a one-year full-tuition scholarship. This scholarship is only available to Ghanaian students pursuing a programme in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Applicants must be academically strong, service-minded, and looking to make a difference in their communities. We will be accepting applications from students who are applying to study in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. Students who receive the scholarship will have their WASSCE scores checked officially.

Barclays Tertiary Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Ghanaian Students

This is a collaborative effort between Barclays Bank Ghana and the University and it is to further support Barclays Bank’s commitment to unlocking societal challenges whiles contributing to the economic growth of the country.

Educational Pathways International (EPI) Fully-funded Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

EPI only accepts applications from students accepted and registered at the University of Ghana, Accra, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and the University for Development Studies (UDS).

UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme

The UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme is for Level 100 and Year 1 Masters students from areas of financial need to study at the University of Ghana.

The Scholarship will cover tuition, books, as well as room and board, and will be awarded for as long as excellent academic standards of at least a B average or 3.0 CGPA continues to be met and financial need is demonstrated.

Standard Chartered Scholarships

The Scholarship is opened to all Ghanaian students in their 1st and 2nd year who are Brilliant but Needy Students of KNUST and who are pursuing a full-time programme in Pure Science  (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), BSc. Human Biology, and BSc. Agriculture.

UEW Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund (VCSF) for Brilliant but Needy Students.

UPSA VCEF Scholarship

The scholarship award packages shall be in two categories: Full Scholarship (covering tuition fees, miscellaneous university-approved charges, hostel accommodation, stipend for books and study materials) and Partial Scholarship (covering tuition fees, miscellaneous university-approved charges).

Foundation Edu Scholarships

The activities of the Fondazione Edu are designed to foster capacity building in Africa and result in the provision of scholarships for university studies that cover the entire cost of training and the costs associated with it.

The Scholarship is offered to students from the University of Ghana (UG) Legon and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Unibank Undergraduate Scholarships for Ghanaian Students

Unibank Ghana Limited in Collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is offering scholarships to needy but brilliant students in the University in order to help them pursue their education successfully.

General Electric Undergraduate Scholarships

General Electric will provide flat-rated scholarship support through the “the GE Scholarship”, for the benefit of certain University of Ghana under-graduate students in the areas of BA Computer Science and some BSc Applied Sciences.

The Scholarship covers academic and residential fees and book allowance. In addition, leadership training and limited Internship may be offered as long as an excellent academic standard of at least a 2.5 CGPA continues to be met and need is demonstrated.

S.T. Nankani Scholarships

S.T Nankani Foundation is a Scholarship Scheme that offers a one-year Scholarship to Brilliant but Needy Students to enable them to pursue their University Education in KNUST.

EY CSR Scholarship

The EY CSR Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students of the University of Ghana from areas of need reading.

Eligible candidates who have received EY Ghana CSR award in a current year will be eligible for the renewal of the EY Ghana CSR for the subsequent year(s) provided they maintain a Grade Point Average of (GPA) 3.0 or better and are in need of the funds.

The Scholarship will cover academic and residential fees and book allowance.

SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship Scheme

The SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship is a scheme which seeks to provide financial support to needy and brilliant students of the University of Ghana.

GEAAA Dr. Osei Kwabena Gyebi Scholarship

The scholarship awards are given by GEAAA annually to individuals who undertake innovations that provide practical solutions to technological problems pertaining to Africa, as well as contribute to its economic growth & quality of life. For non-student recipients the awards are given as grants.
