Whether you have a student visa, work visa, or tourist visa, at some point, your passport is going to expire. So, what do you do?

In this video, we will talk about how to renew your U.S. visa when it has expired. The process is the same for all visa types.

How to renew your U.S. visa:

  1. Check if you are eligible to renew your visa. For example, if you are applying for a student visa, you need to have an I-20 form.
  2. Submit form DS-160 online. This form requires all the information needed to obtain a visa.
  3. Verify if you qualify for a visa interview waiver. Most visa renewals qualify for an interview waiver as long as you renew in the same category and you are within 48 months of the visa expiration date.
  4. Pay your visa application fee. You can do this online after filling out the DS-160 form.
  5. Collect all your supporting documents. These documents may include proof of income, proof of eligibility for school, or proof of ties to your home country.
  6. Attend your visa interview. Be prepared to answer the consular officer’s questions.
  7. Please wait for the embassy to send you your passport with your visa in it.

Any prior visa denials or criminal issues could affect your ability to renew your visa.

If you have any questions or concerns, talk to an immigration attorney.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
