The fee is different for different types of visas. The most common nonimmigrant visa types, such as tourist, business, student, and exchange visas, cost US$185. Most petition-based visas, such as work and religious visas, are US$205. K visas cost US$265, and the fee for E visas is US$315.

You do not have to pay the visa application fee if you are applying for one of the following types of visas:

- C-2
- C-3
- NATO
- Diplomatic visa
Other Fees
In addition to the visa application fee, you may also have to pay other fees, such as:
Visa issuance fee: This fee is based on “reciprocity” (what another country charges a U.S. citizen for a similar type of visa).
SEVIS fee: This fee is charged to F, M, and J visa applicants.
Blanket L Fee: This fee is charged to first-time principal applicants who are covered under a blanket petition for L status.
